Sustainable Power Solutions (SPS) is an alternative power company backed by the UK Government’s development finance institution, British International Investment, through their wholly-owned subsidiary, Gridworks. The prospects for solar energy in Africa are positive, with many players entering the market.
Challenge:
Due to limited marketing activity, there was a lack of awareness and recall of SPS’s service offering and credentials in solar PV and battery solutions across Sub-Saharan Africa. SPS wanted to gain recognition as an industry leader in the commercial and industrial solar solutions space through a solid marketing effort.
Solutions:
Develop an in-bound marketing strategy to attract the right prospects to SPS through knowledge-sharing and digital word-of-mouth.
Mechanics:
Create a long-term marketing and communications strategy and implementation plan to guide future promotional activities, and the marketing appointee in delivering on the new strategic direction. I assisted SPS with a comprehensive marketing plan for a year; all communications materials, including positioning and key PR milestones and a stakeholder map; and the recruitment process, including onboarding and providing a 90-day implementation plan.
Impact:
The new marketing manager hit the ground running with the package provided. I also provided coaching throughout the process. The strategy is being successfully rolled out and there is now visibility of it yielding actionable results for SPS.
